WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 1, 2025--

Today, the American Association for Debt Resolution (AADR) and the Consumer Debt Relief Initiative (CDRI), two leading advocates for debt relief nationwide, have come together to form the Association for Consumer Debt Relief (ACDR). By bringing together the unique strengths and talents of each organization, ACDR will unify communications, continue to develop industry standards, and support education for its members.

ACDR’s mission is to educate consumers and policymakers about debt relief and its benefits, hold debt relief companies to the highest industry standards, and protect and expand access to accredited debt relief services nationwide.

“This marks a major milestone for the entire debt relief industry,” said AADR Chairman Dan Frazier. “With stronger advocacy efforts and expanded expertise, ACDR is well-positioned to support consumer choice at a time when consumer debt delinquency is reaching five-year highs, while upholding the highest performance standards for the providers that serve millions of Americans grappling with unsecured debt.”

“We are excited to get started on advancing ACDR’s mission and helping consumers across the country,” stated CDRI Founder Tomas Gordon. “By aligning efforts under this new organization, we are creating a more unified voice for the industry and the consumers we serve.”

ACDR will work with its members, as well as policymakers and regulators, to maintain fairness and transparency in providing debt relief services across the country in full compliance with state and federal regulations.

While ACDR introduces a new name and brand, its members’ commitment to consumers remains the same. ACDR looks forward to continuing its advocacy for consumer protection and working with policymakers to ensure that Americans have access to high-quality debt relief services.
