SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 29, 2025--

Western CAM Inc., a U.S.-based manufacturer of lithium iron phosphate cathode active materials (LFP CAM), today announced that Bob Galyen, former Chief Technology Officer of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL), has agreed to join its Board of Directors as its first outside director and has made a personal investment in the company.

Galyen is internationally recognized as one of the most influential leaders in the global lithium-ion battery industry. At CATL, he helped guide the company from early scale-up into the world’s largest battery manufacturer. He brings decades of expertise in lithium battery chemistries, manufacturing process optimization, and global supply chain strategy, Bob also held key battery leadership positions at Magna, Delphi and General Motors making him a recognized authority in battery technology.

“Adding Bob to our Board marks a defining moment for Western CAM,” said Dr. Isobel Sheldon, Global CEO and Co-Founder of Western CAM. “His unparalleled knowledge of the battery industry and LFP, combined with our team’s proven process and early execution milestones, positions us to deliver the U.S.’s most competitive LFP supply, we formed our company to enable sovereign battery materials manufacturing capability at scale, reshoring a vital and necessary part of the battery value chain to America.”

“The Western CAM team has exactly what is required to execute at scale: world-class technical depth, proven manufacturing know-how, and a clear strategy,” said Galyen. “LFP is central to electrification globally — from EVs to grid storage — and securing domestic capability in this chemistry is vital for building a robust battery ecosystem. I’m excited to join this mission and help re-establish U.S. leadership in critical battery materials.”

Western CAM is already in its initial LFP sample production phase, and has secured several LOIs with U.S.-based cell manufacturers. The company’s process enables consistent, cost-competitive production that meets the performance and quality requirements of world-class auto OEMs, grid storage, and energy infrastructure markets.
