NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 24, 2025--

Stone Ridge Asset Management (“Stone Ridge”), a $28 billion asset manager, today introduced two new funds—LIFT, a 3-year ETF lasting through 2028, and BCKT, a 5-year ETF lasting through 2030—designed to help retirees take the guesswork out of retirement income.

For example, a $100,000 investment in LIFT is expected to distribute ~$32,000 annually (paying ~$2,700 per month) through 2028, boosting interest income with return of principal for higher, stable cash flow. 1

These two LifeX ETFs aim to help investors simplify the “bucket” approach to retirement planning by replacing the complexity of managing bonds and interest rate swings with a streamlined solution: choose a time horizon and receive fixed monthly cash flow until the fund’s end date.

The bucket approach to retirement divides assets into distinct “buckets” based on time horizon and risk tolerance. The LifeX Income Bucket ETFs are designed to offer a convenient, cost-efficient way to implement this strategy—locking in interest rates, delivering reliable monthly cash flow, and maintaining the liquidity retirees value in an income solution.

Together with LDDR, the existing 10-year ETF, the new 3- and 5-year ETFs round out the Income Bucket lineup. The LifeX franchise also includes Longevity Income ETFs which are designed to provide monthly cash flow for 25–40 years, with options for fixed or inflation-protected payouts.

By holding U.S. Treasuries to maturity, LifeX ETFs are designed to lock in interest rates and offer predictable cash flow that can support long-term plans regardless of future market conditions.

"We’ve designed a solution that is built to help investors plan with confidence and focus on enjoying retirement,” said Nate Conrad, Head of LifeX at Stone Ridge. “The launch of LIFT and BCKT extends the LifeX vision: giving investors practical tools to generate reliable income for a personalized time horizon—from short-term strategic cash management and spending needs to lifelong retirement planning.”

The purpose of each LifeX Income Bucket ETF is to provide reliable monthly distributions consisting of income and principal through the end of a calendar year specified in the ETF’s prospectus.

Investing involves risk. Principal loss is possible. The Fund intends to make an identical distribution each month equal to $0.8333 per outstanding share of the Fund, for a total of $10.00 per share per year. Unlike a traditional investment company with a perpetual existence, the Fund is designed to liquidate in the calendar year specified in the ETFs' prospectus, and there will be no further distributions from the Fund beyond that year. However, due to certain risks impacting the market for the Fund’s investments, such as the risk of a U.S. government default, it is possible that the Fund may run out of assets to support its intended distributions prior to its intended term. Investors should consider the price of the Fund’s shares and the remaining term of the Fund at the time of their purchase when determining whether the Fund is appropriate for their financial planning needs, as an investment made closer to the end of the Fund’s term will result in fewer monthly distributions being paid to the investor than if the investment had been made at the start of the Fund’s term. The amount of each Income Bucket ETF’s distributions will not change as interest rates change. If interest rates increase, shareholders face the risk that the value to them of an ETF’s distributions will decrease relative to other investment options that may be available at that time, and that the market value of their shares will decrease. Each Income Bucket ETF intends to make distributions for which a portion of each distribution is expected and intended to constitute a return of capital, which will reduce the amount of capital available for investment and may reduce a shareholder’s tax basis in his or her shares.

The LifeX ETFs invest in debt securities issued by the U.S. Treasury (“U.S. Government Bonds”) as well as money market funds that invest exclusively in U.S. Government Bonds or repurchase agreements collateralized by such securities. U.S. Government Bonds have not historically had credit-related defaults, but there can be no assurance that they will avoid default in the future. Individual bonds carry an obligation to fully return principal to investors at maturity, however ETFs have no such obligation. The net asset value of the ETFs will decline over time as income payments are made to shareholders.

The LifeX ETFs are distributed by Foreside Financial Services, LLC, which is not affiliated with Stone Ridge Asset Management LLC.
