ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 10, 2025--
Brambles today released its 2025 Sustainability Review, reporting on material sustainability issues and achievements for the fiscal year (FY) ending June 30, 2025.
Concluding the final year of its 2025 Sustainability Program, Brambles’ circular business model delivered measurable positive impact to the planet, business and communities in FY25 and throughout the five-year program. While Brambles delivered on the majority of its 2025 sustainability targets, where metrics were not achieved, the insights gained have laid strong foundations for its 2030 Sustainability Program.
Significant achievements highlighted in the 2025 Sustainability Review include:
- Exceeding its target to enable the sustainable growth of two trees for every one used, with 3 million additional trees grown alongside the 2.6 million replaced through certified sustainable forestry programs in FY25
- Increasing proportion of waste materials in products, with upcycled and recycled content comprising 41.4% of all plastic material purchased (up from 15% in FY21)
- Achieving 17.2% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across entire value chain (Scope 1, 2 and 3) on the FY20 baseline, while maintaining 100% renewable electricity in Brambles’ own operations since FY21
- Increasing the number of customers participating in collaboration projects to 637 customers (up from 273 in FY20) and increasing the number of collaborative initiatives to 2,599 (up from 1,392 in FY21)
- Continuing improvement in safety, with BIFR 1 reducing for the sixth consecutive year, and progress on female representation in the workforce with 38.8% of all management roles held by women (up from 31.3% in FY20)
- Supporting local communities with contributions totaling $10.3M (up from $5.5M in FY21) through financial and in-kind donations, including employee volunteering and partnerships with food banks, which have delivered meals to 94 million people since FY20
Brambles now continues its regenerative ambition under a newly launched 2030 Sustainability Program, building on the success of the past five years.
The new program emphasises nature-positive outcomes as a core principle of a regenerative business, while leveraging Brambles’ position at the center of global supply networks to expand its scope and impact beyond its operational boundaries.
Among the main targets of the 2030 Sustainability Program are:
- Regenerate two hectares of land for every one hectare required for its timber needs – shifting from the 2025 program’s tree-based metrics to holistic, nature-based metrics
- Achieve validated 2030 science-based climate targets (42% reduction for Scope 1 and 2, and 17% reduction for Scope 3) to progress toward our ambition of net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by2040
- Boost circularity with 80% of product waste into net positive solutions, 2 while substituting 80% of virgin plastics in new products with circular materials
- Activate sustainability collaborationswith 1,000 partners across Brambles’ supply network by building on collaborations achieved in 2025
Launching the 2030 Sustainability Program, Graham Chipchase, Brambles CEO, said, “The next phase of our sustainability strategy embodies an evolutionary spirit, building on the core regenerative themes of the 2025 Sustainability Program with greater ambition while responding to the shifting expectations of our stakeholders.”
Brambles continues to be an early adopter of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework, outlining nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities in its FY25 reporting. It also remains ahead of mandatory disclosure requirements, with a comprehensive climate update in its 2025 Annual Report, detailing climate transition and adaptation strategies.
