Happy 250th Birthday, America!

This week has been unlike any other I’ve experienced in more than four decades behind a microphone.

From broadcasting Celebrate 250 from the heart of Times Square to preparing for today’s extraordinary Sail4th 250 celebration in New York Harbor, I’ve had a front-row seat to something our nation will only experience once.

And if there’s one thought I hope stays with me long after the fireworks fade, it’s this:

America’s 250th birthday shouldn’t be something we celebrate once. It should be something we celebrate every day.

Not because America has always gotten everything right.

But because no nation in human history has done more to place liberty, opportunity, faith, and self-government into the hands of ordinary people.

The Founders handed us something astonishing—not perfection, but possibility. For 250 years, generation after generation has been entrusted with protecting it, improving it, and passing it forward.

Now it’s our turn.

In this issue of That Passport Life, we continue that journey by exploring remarkable destinations, unforgettable celebrations, and the places where American history continues to come alive. Whether you’re traveling across the country or simply discovering your own hometown in a new way, I hope you’ll find fresh reasons to appreciate this incredible nation.

And while you’re celebrating today, don’t forget to stream God Bless America, the official soundtrack of our Celebrate 250 broadcast. Having the incomparable Sam Levine lend his legendary saxophone to the recording remains one of the great honors of my career, and I hope the song becomes part of your family’s Independence Day traditions for years to come.

And this weekend on Salem News Channel and BizTV we will celebrate America’s birthday unapologetically. We will relive the greatest rendition of our national anthem. Special contributions from Charlie Puth, Steven Curtis Chapman, TEA Collective and Chris Janson. a perfectly time sketch regarding our founding from Nick Peterson, Harris Faulkner, Eric Metaxas and Carrie Lucas also joining us.

And closing the show a moving and reverent close. Don’t miss it - 8am EST on Salem News Channel, 9pm EST on BizTV & 11pm EST/8pm PST on BizTV.

Finally, thank you.

Thank you for watching, listening, reading, traveling, encouraging, and allowing me to share this journey with you. Every email, every conversation, every story reminds me that what we’re building together is far bigger than a radio show or a newsletter.

It’s a community of people who still believe America is worth celebrating.

Not just today.

Every single day.

From my family to yours…

Happy Independence Day, and Happy 250th Birthday, America.
