PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct 7, 2025--

Countable Labs, the developer of Countable PCR, a category-defining PCR technology that sets a new benchmark for sensitivity in genomics, announced the launch of Countable 10, the first and only PCR platform capable of 10-color multiplexing. The new platform will extend the utility of the company’s core Countable PCR technology to enable higher level multiplexing that easily and cleanly reveals more insights in a single reaction. In addition, Countable Labs announced the appointment of genomics industry veteran Giovanna Prout as Chief Executive Officer, and the company plans to share Countable 10 data at the upcoming American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) annual meeting being held October 14-18, 2025, as well as the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) annual meeting being held November 11-15, 2025, both in Boston, Mass.

Countable 10 platform

Countable PCR is a highly scalable PCR technology leveraging single molecule isolation across 30 million compartments per experiment to achieve true single-molecule quantitation from a simple PCR workflow. The technology offers the highest sensitivity available from PCR, at least 10 times the sensitivity and precision of other PCR technologies, facilitating the identification of rare events as low as 0.004% variant allele frequency (VAF), even with small sample inputs. Countable PCR’s effortless, out-of-the-box multiplexing approach with its Universal Multiplexing Kit also accelerates research, biopharma screening, and testing applications by dramatically reducing assay development time.

The Countable 10 platform builds on this core technology by detecting 10 distinct fluorophores, without the uncertainty of spectral overlap common in other multiplex PCR approaches. With an automated data readout for 10 colors via a PCR workflow, Countable 10 overcomes the cost, turnaround time, and technical challenges faced by those using next-generation sequencing, eliminating the need for specialized bioinformatics. The four-color Countable PCR platform is now shipping, and the 10-color Countable 10 will ship in the first half of 2026. Starting today, Countable Labs offers customers access to generate data on Countable 10 through its assay services offerings.

“The genomics community needs tools that make examining multiple biomarkers accessible and cost effective for everyday molecular applications,” said Eleen Shum, Vice President of Product and founding scientist at Countable Labs. “Countable 10 is highly sensitive, affordable, and fast, so that labs can study more markers per reaction with ease.”

Countable Labs will discuss the 10-color PCR capabilities of Countable 10 and its ability to generate deeper insights with faster turnaround times and lower costs in a webinar on October 30, 2025. Register here.

Giovanna Prout joins Countable Labs as CEO

Countable Labs announced the appointment of Giovanna Prout as Chief Executive Officer. Giovanna brings a strong commercial background to Countable Labs with a bold vision for turning Countable PCR into meaningful products that serve a broad range of academic, translational, and eventually clinical customers. Giovanna is a skilled executive and operator with deep experience in catalyzing new markets for genomics tools at Illumina, 10x Genomics, and most recently as CEO of Scale Biosciences (acquired by 10x Genomics). She holds a BS in bioengineering and an MBA from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).

“The Countable Labs team developed a fundamentally new technology that solves many of the challenges that labs using PCR and next-generation sequencing face,” said Giovanna Prout, CEO of Countable Labs. “Now is the time to leverage that technology to design products that upend the status quo by accelerating science for a broad range of users – including academic labs, biopharma innovators, contract research organizations, cell and gene therapy manufacturers, and diagnostics companies.”
