WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct 1, 2025--
Cy4Data Labs, the first cybersecurity company to protect data at every stage of its lifecycle, today announced that its flagship product Cy4Secure™ is the industry’s first true quantum-proof encryption solution. The announcement was made live on stage at POLITICO Policy Outlook Cybersecurity event, where leading experts convened to discuss the mounting risks of quantum computing.
For decades, encryption has been a race against computing power. With university research centers already announcing the ability to break traditional RSA encryption in seconds, it makes sense for governments to assume the worst: Q-Day, the point when quantum computers can shatter today’s strongest encryption technologies, is already here. It is impossible to know what rogue nations, cartels, or other bad actors can accomplish with technology this powerful.
“The world has lived with the assumption that all encryption eventually falls to greater compute power,” said Lance Smith, CEO & Cofounder of Cy4Data Labs. “That era ends today. Cy4Secure is fully quantum-proof, ensuring governments, businesses, and critical infrastructure can finally protect their most sensitive data with confidence that it will remain secure beyond Q-Day.”
Quantum Proofing: From Impossible Theory to Proven Reality
Cy4Data Labs achieved this breakthrough by re-engineering a Cold War-era technique, the one-time pad (OTP), long regarded as mathematically unbreakable, for the digital age. While OTP was historically impossible to scale, Cy4Secure overcomes that barrier with a proprietary algorithm that:
- Generates millions of one-time keys at digital scale without performance loss
- Decrypts only at the authorized user’s device, never in transit
- Encrypts at the most granular level, down to individual fields or words
The result is true perfect secrecy: even if stolen, the data is unreadable, unbreakable, and permanently useless to attackers—whether classical or quantum.
POLITICO’s Policy Outlook Cybersecurity Event
As the federal government, corporations, hospital systems and other institutions contend with persistent cyber attacks and data breaches, policymakers and executives alike must now prepare for the next wave of increasingly sophisticated threats.
Join POLITICO for a policy outlook event covering the cybersecurity challenges posed by quantum computing and other emerging technologies, and how the U.S. and its allies are preparing to handle the risks.
The Policy Outlook event will feature key experts in cybersecurity policy and quantum technology, including:
- Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Ranking Member on the Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, and Data Security and bipartisan sponsor of the National Quantum Cybersecurity Migration Strategy bill.
- Kemba Walden, President, Paladin Global Institute and Former Acting U.S. National Cyber Director (2023).
- Gretchen Campbell, University of Maryland Associate vice president for quantum research and education at the university’s Joint Quantum Institute | Campbell Group and Former Assistant Director for Quantum Information Science & Director of the National Quantum Coordination Office (2024-25) at the United States Office of Science and Technology Policy
- Emily Harding, Director, Intelligence, National Security and Technology (INT) Program Center for Strategic and International Studies and vice president of the Defense and Security Department (DSD) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
- Dr. Dustin Moody, mathematician in the Computer Security Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Post-Quantum Cryptography project at NIST, which earlier this year won NIST’s Research Impact Award for research leading to new post-quantum cryptographic standards.
The event also featured a fireside chat with Lance Smith and Rachel Loeffler, Executive Vice President for Professional Business at POLITICO. Topics explored include the global consequences of quantum computing and the urgency of deploying defenses that work now, not after Q-Day arrives.
