Scheffler out of US Open with a positive coronavirus test

PGA Tour rookie Scottie Scheffler has tested positive for the coronavirus and has withdrawn from the U.S. Open. The USGA says Scheffler was asymptomatic when he tested positive and is home in Dallas. Scheffler is the second player knocked out of a major because of a positive test result. He is being replaced at Winged Foot by the first casualty —- Branden Grace. Grace tested positive a week before the PGA Championship and had to withdraw. Scheffler is the leading candidate for PGA Tour rookie of the year after finishing No. 5 in the FedEx Cup.
