Teen charged in connection with shooting that injured child

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a teenager has been charged in shots fired at a vehicle that injured a 1-year-old child in New Jersey’s largest city last week. The Newark public safety department said the 16-year-old youth faces five counts of aggravated assault in the shooting shortly after 2 p.m. last Monday. The city’s public safety director, Brian O’Hara, said a man, two other teenagers and the child were in the vehicle at the time of the gunfire, which he said stemmed from “a senseless dispute.”
