SUV hits front-loader, killing 5, including boy, 4, in NJ

RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a sport utility vehicle slammed into the rear of a construction vehicle on a major highway in northern New Jersey, killing five people, including a 4-year-old boy. The Bergen County prosecutor’s office said the front-loader was returning to a Route 3 construction site and heading west on the highway when it was struck from behind by the SUV. Prosecutors said 38-year-old Michelle Toledo, 20-year-old Irvina Gee, 23-year-old Sheckylle Chain, and 16-year-old Ayana Navas, all of Paterson, were pronounced dead at the scene. Four-year-old Noah Alexander Dejesus of Allentown was briefly revived but was pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center.
