School rabbi accused of tricking student to send nude photos

NEW YORK (AP) — Federal authorities say a rabbi and associate principal at a Jewish private school in the Bronx has been arrested for tricking a 14-year-old boy into sending him nude photos of himself.

Jonathan Skolnick was arrested Saturday on charges of child enticement, production, receipt and possession of child pornography and sending extortionate communications. He has a court hearing on Wednesday. Information on his lawyer wasn't immediately available.

Prosecutors say Skolnick allegedly posed as several teen-aged girls online to communicate with the victim, who came to fear that his sexually explicit photos of himself would be released after Skolnick's messages became increasingly threatening.

Authorities say Skolnick may have sought nude photos from dozens of other teens.

The principal of SAR Academy in Riverdale told NBC New York that Skolnick was fired after they learned of his arrest. The school calls itself a "modern Orthodox co-educational day school" and serves students up to the 8th grade.
