Prosecutor: Man caused fatal crash, tried to bribe witness

ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) — A Newark man has been charged with causing a fatal crash on the Garden State Parkway and trying to bribe a witness at the scene. The Union County prosecutor's office has charged Ronaldo Godwin with death by auto and witness tampering. Godwin allegedly struck a car driven by Christopher Meikle of East Orange early Monday, leaving Meikle's car in flames on the center median. When a passing driver stopped to help, Godwin allegedly indicated he would provide a reward for being driven away from the scene. Godwin is being held at the Union County jail, and it wasn't immediately known if he had retained an attorney who could comment on the charges.
