NYPD: Off-duty officer shoots two women; 1 dead, 1 hurt

NEW YORK (AP) — An off-duty New York City police officer is in custody after authorities say she shot two women, one of whom she was intimately involved with. The shooting Wednesday left one woman dead and the other injured. Assistant Chief Michael Kemper says patrol officers responded to 911 calls around 5 p.m. and saw the officer in front of the location. Inside they found a 23-year-old woman shot in the torso and a 24-year-old woman shot in the chest. Both women were taken to the hospital, where 24-year-old Jamie Liang was pronounced dead.
