Man gets 40 years in restaurant slaying, attempted slaying

FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) — Prosecutors say a man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison in the slaying of a man and attempted slaying of a woman in a New Jersey restaurant two years ago. Forty-two-year-old Miguel Camara of Long Branch was sentenced Friday on guilty pleas in July to first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder and third-degree child endangerment. Authorities said Camara entered Bom DMais restaurant in August 2018 and shot 45-year-old Marco Moreira. Authorities say he then fired twice at his ex-girlfriend, who was also sitting at the table with her 18- and 5-year-old children, but missed.
