Long Island teen pleads not guilty in fatal brawl

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) — A Long Island teenager is being held without bail after being arraigned on a murder charge in the fatal stabbing of another teen during an after-school brawl in Oceanside.

Eighteen-year-old Tyler Flach, of Lido Beach, pleaded not guilty Thursday in the death of 16-year-old Khaseen Morris.

Police say Morris was stabbed in the chest at a strip mall on Monday during a fight over a girl as dozens of teens recorded the melee on their smartphones. Police say other possible suspects may be charged in the case.

Flach's lawyer, Edward Sapone, suggested in court that Morris' friends may be involved in Bloods street gang violence.

Flach is due back in court on Monday.
