Jersey City cop guilty of official misconduct, theft

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) — Jurors have found a Jersey City police officer guilty of taking cash from a man during a stop. The panel on Thursday convicted 28-year-old Denzel Suitt of official misconduct and theft by unlawful taking. It also found Suitt guilty of theft in the value of $500 or less. Authorities say Suitt was in uniform and on duty when he stopped the man on Bayside Terrace on March 25, 2018. It was during that stop that authorities say Suitt took the cash from the man's wallet. Suitt faces sentencing in April.
