WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) — State burglary and theft-related charges have been dropped against a northeastern Pennsylvania man awaiting sentencing on federal convictions of threatening President Donald Trump and a Pennsylvania district attorney. The (Wilkes-Barre) Citizens' Voice reports that Luzerne County prosecutors said 28-year-old Shawn Christy had already been convicted in federal court “on charges arising out of his conduct related" to the state case. The motion said the defendant's uncle did not oppose dropping the charges. The Maple Shade, New Jersey native said someone else wrote online threats, but jurors were told to disregard that after he refused to answer questions.
