TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey's top law enforcement officer says four former public officials have been indicted on bribery and misconduct charges after accepting bribes from a cooperating witness. New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said Tuesday in a statement that the defendants sought to sell the authority of their offices “in exchange for an envelope filled with cash or illegal checks from straw donors.” Three of the four defendants denied the charges when they were first charged in December. The attorney for the fourth couldn't be reached at the time. Messages for all four defendants have been left with their attorneys.
