WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov 4, 2025--

The Milken Institute 2025 Future of Health Summit opens today, convening leaders from business, health, and government to advance ideas that drive better health outcomes for all communities. Taking place November 4–6 at the Salamander Hotel in Washington, DC, the summit—centered on the theme “In Service of Better Health” —features sessions and discussions exploring the trends and innovations shaping the future of health.

Prominent government speakers include Jay Bhattacharya, Director, National Institutes of Health (NIH); Marty Makary, Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration (FDA); Mehmet Oz, Administrator, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS); Jim O’Neill, Deputy Secretary, US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS); and Dr.Meena Seshamani, Secretary, Maryland Department of Health.

They will be joined by Academy Award-Winning Actress and Advocate Lupita Nyong’o and former First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden, who will lead a conversation on “The Next Era of Women’s Health,” along with influential leaders such as Jeremy David, Head of US Healthcare, Palantir Technologies; Eric Lefkofsky, CEO of Tempus; Sharmila Makhija, Founding Dean and CEO, Alice L. Walton School of Medicine; and other changemakers committed to strengthening health systems, expanding access, and improving health worldwide.

“We’re at a turning point in health,” said Esther Krofah, EVP of Health at the Milken Institute. “Breakthroughs in science, technology, and data are redefining what’s possible, but progress only matters if it reaches people who need it most. The conversations here are designed to break down silos and accelerate real collaboration that turns innovation into impact. Better health should not be a privilege, but a promise.”

At the summit, updates will be shared on the Milken Institute’s multistakeholder efforts to advance solutions in biomedical innovation, public health, healthy aging, and food systems, including:

  • Shaping the Future of US Biomedical Research and Innovation - The United States, a longtime global leader, sets the gold standard in scientific discoveries and regulatory review but now stands at a critical juncture. Other nations are investing heavily in their life sciences sectors, while fragmented systems, outdated processes, lack of coordination, and inconsistent investment threaten to slow America’s progress. FasterCures engaged leaders across the public, private, and philanthropic sectors to examine what it will take to preserve and strengthen US leadership in life sciences and to produce the advances needed to deliver more effective and affordable health care. This report presents a set of policy recommendations as a starting point for dialogue and action. From this foundation, leadership, cross-sector collaboration, and investment will be essential. The dividends will be clear: better health for all and a stronger, more secure future for the nation.
  • Advancing Women’s Health – The Milken Institute Women’s Health Network is a global collaborative advancing research, innovation, and investment to improve women’s health. The network has expanded its membership to over 100 participating organizations and welcomed the American Cancer Society to its Steering Committee, reflecting broad collaboration across key sectors, including academia/research, advocacy, corporate/business, finance, health systems, pharma/life sciences, and technology.

As we see cancer and other health challenges evolve for women, we have an unprecedented opportunity to address the future of women's health," said Shane Jacobson, CEO for the American Cancer Society. “I'm thrilled to join a distinguished group of leaders from the health care continuum uniting to drive meaningful change."

Newly announced, the Women’s Health Network launched focused working groups and new initiatives to explore: investing to accelerate innovation and scale market access; regulatory solutions along the drug development life cycle for conditions that affect women exclusively, differentially, and/or differently; and considerations for payment and coverage of new products and technologies focused on women’s health conditions.
