NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 22, 2025--

Near Space Labs, the leader in high-frequency, high-resolution imagery from the stratosphere, today announced the appointment of Jacob Grob as Vice President of Sales. In this role, Grob will spearhead sales strategy and market expansion across insurance, reinsurance, insurtech, and adjacent geospatial markets.

Jacob's two-decade career at the forefront of innovation in insurance demonstrates a consistent focus on emerging technologies that became industry standards. His expertise spans GIS, data aggregation, imagery, and AI-driven risk assessment across leading companies in the space.

Grob began at Proxix Solutions, contributing to the first nationwide parcel dataset and deterministic risk scores for property insurance. At CoreLogic, he gained exposure across catastrophe modeling, replacement cost tools, risk APIs, and claims verification. At MapRisk, Grob built an integrated risk platform combining best-in-class data with imagery, positioning the company for acquisition by Insurity. As CRO at Tensorflight, he commercialized computer vision solutions for property condition assessment before joining Origami Risk to advise carriers on policy administration and claims modernization.

“The insurance industry is ready for a fundamental shift in how it accesses and uses imagery," said Rema Matevosyan, CEO of Near Space Labs. "Our stratospheric imaging technology has laid the foundation to make this a possibility. But now, with Jacob’s appointment, we have the right person with the right expertise to help insurers realize the full potential of this technology."

Near Space Labs' platform addresses fundamental limitations in traditional satellite and aerial imagery through its stratospheric approach, offering higher resolution than satellites with greater frequency and coverage flexibility than aerial solutions. The technology has applications across underwriting automation, claims verification, catastrophe response, and emerging AI-driven risk assessment models.

“Throughout my career, I've pursued the most innovative insurance technologies, and I've seen how imagery can revolutionize underwriting and claims,” said Grob. “But insurers have limited options; locked into legacy providers with prohibitive costs and inflexible contracts. Near Space Labs changes that: it's the convergence of everything I've seen and valued in imagery, data extraction, and risk assessment. What’s more, it represents the shift into an entirely new era for the industry. I'm excited to democratize this technology and transform the sector."

The appointment supports Near Space Labs' expansion strategy as the company scales its platform to serve growing demand for flexible, high-quality imagery solutions in insurance and adjacent markets.
