Unfunny.

Last night, the White House Correspondents Association released a statement to separate itself from the controversial comedy routine delivered by comedian Michelle Wolf at the group's annual dinner on Saturday.

In her routine, Wolf criticized the media and the current administration. Her most pointed critiques were aimed at members of the administration, including White House press secretary Sarah Sander and presidential aide Kellyanne Conway. Her criticisms were so harsh that members of the media came to the defense of the White House.

Politico.com reported on the journalists distancing themselves from Wolf's routine and even MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell even tweeted out that Sarah Sanders deserves an apology.

In response to the controversy, the WHCA released a statement (which can be seen below). The statement noted that "Last night's program was meant to offer a unifying message about our common commitment to a vigorous and free press while honoring civility, great reporting and scholarship winners, not to divide people. Unfortunately, the entertainer's monologue was not in the spirit of that mission."
