A New Jersey university dean has resigned after her school banned Chick-fil-A over its Christian values.

Fox News reports students at Rider University had voted to bring in the fast food restaurant, but the school nixed the plan because of the chain’s perceived “opposition to the LGBTQ+ community."

Dean Cynthia Newman, who describes herself as a committed Christian, said the decision from the school “felt like a punch in the stomach,” saying their ban indicated that people who hold values similar to Chick-fil-A's are not responsible citizens.

She asked them to issue an apology.

But, the school refused and doubled down on their ban – leading to Newman’s resignation.

Newman says she has received a lot of support from faculty and staff for holding to her beliefs.
