Another migrant caravan — this one estimated at 15,000 people — is getting ready to leave Honduras on Jan. 15 and make their way to the U.S. border, according to migrant rights advocates and Spanish-language media.
The LA Times reports a member of the migrant group claims “they are even bigger and stronger than the last caravan.”
Meanwhile, thousands of Central American migrants from a caravan that left Honduras in October remain at the U.S.-Mexico border in crowded Tijuana shelters, most waiting out the asylum request process with the United States.
Many of those migrants say they were lied to by caravan organizers about their ability to get into the U.S. and now feel abandoned. Some are ready to return home.
