What have the last eight months looked like?
I do not often share all that is going on behind the scenes. It is not that I am hiding the hard realities of life. Instead, I am choosing to honor my loved ones by keeping their personal stories and struggles private. Yet, if I am being honest, month after month, and sometimes week after week, a new challenge surfaces.
Just to give you a glimpse into the reality of this season, our family has been navigating a heavy, continuous wave of trials. We have walked through the decline of aging parents and the sting of profound grief. We have faced the upheaval of moving, unexpected financial losses, and the terrifying shock of vehicle accidents. Add to that the daily realities of tight work deadlines, caregiver burnout, homeschooling challenges, and advocating for the medical and mental health needs of those we hold dear.
When you have a large family, there are simply more people and more challenges. Yet this has been an exceptionally hard season.
Something else that makes all these circumstances heavier is that I do not have food as a comfort right now. I know that might sound strange. However, a person does not realize how much they eat to numb their pain until they stop going to food for comfort. Without that coping mechanism, the raw emotions of the season are impossible to ignore.
Where does that leave me?
It leaves me fully reliant on the Lord. It requires giving myself immense grace for the journey. Practically, it looks like remembering I do not have to try to keep up with every demand. It means knowing that if I do not get back to people when I would like to, they will understand. I am learning to do what I can each day and let go of the rest, casting my anxieties on Jesus.
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 NLT
Praise in the Midst of the Storm
What does giving your worries to God look like? It looks like trusting God and praising Him right in the middle of the storm. It means choosing to be fully present and loving to the person standing right in front of me.
I am also intentionally caring for my physical body through healthy choices, while still carving out space to dream and plan ventures with friends. Most importantly, it means anchoring my days in worship music and reading God’s Word.
Right now, when situations do not easily change, praise changes my heart. That inward shift changes absolutely everything. As the Scriptures encourage us, “Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things” (Psalm 98:1).
If you are walking through a heavy season of your own, this is on my heart to share with you today.
The Atmosphere of Praise
Pages are blank. Schedules are full.
Demands of the day, they heavily pull.
Yet I lift up my eyes, to the hills far away (Psalm 121:1).
I choose to bring worship to the middle of the fray.
Praise changes the room. Praise shifts every heart.
Praise lifts up my eyes, tears the burdens apart.
Speak Jesus’ name, and the shadows take flight.
God’s Son turns our mourning into dancing and light (Psalm 30:11).
Like Paul chained in prison, with Silas at night (Acts 16:25).
A song in the dark provides strength for the fight (Ephesians 6:10).
Chains hit the floor, prison doors open wide (Acts 16:26).
God dwells in the praises, where His children abide (Psalm 22:3).
Praise is more than a melody. Instead, it’s a key.
Unlocking the truth of what God has for me.
Worship surrounds, with heaven’s embrace.
Transforming my spirit, through God’s boundless grace.
Praise changes the room. Praise shifts every heart.
It lifts heavy burdens and tears them apart.
I speak Jesus’ name, and the shadows take flight.
God turns our deep mourning to dancing and light (Psalm 30:11).
The atmosphere shifts.
His glory remains (Haggai 2:9).
I lift up my hands, and I praise Him again.
Yes, I lift up my hands, and I praise Him again (Psalm 134:2).
Friend, Here is a prayer to pray during difficult seasons, rooted entirely in God’s Word.
A Prayer for Hard Seasons
Heavenly Father, I lift my eyes to You, knowing that my true help comes from You alone (Psalm 121:1-2).
When my heart feels completely overwhelmed, please lead me to the rock that is higher than I (Psalm 61:2).
In the middle of this dark valley, I will choose to fear no evil because You are always with me (Psalm 23:4).
Lord, give me the courage to cast all my heavy anxieties on You, trusting that You care for me deeply (1 Peter 5:7).
I am weary and heavily burdened, so I come to You today to find rest for my soul (Matthew 11:28).
Please provide Your peace that surpasses all human understanding to guard my heart and my mind (Philippians 4:7).
Help me to trust in You with all my heart and not lean on my own limited understanding of these circumstances (Proverbs 3:5).
Remind me that You are close to the brokenhearted and You save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Renew my daily strength so that I can soar on wings like eagles, run and not grow weary, and walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).
I hold tightly to the promise that You will eventually turn my mourning into dancing and clothe me with joy (Psalm 30:11).
May Your unfailing love be my continuous comfort, according to the beautiful promises You have made to Your servant (Psalm 119:76).
I pray all of this in the powerful name of Jesus, amen (John 14:13).

As we ponder Saul’s downfall and David’s ascent, we’re confronted with choices of obedience or rebellion. Like David, may we embrace God’s call with humility and courage, trusting in His sovereignty and provision.

Fearless Faith
Unlike Saul, David doesn’t hesitate to face the giant, showcasing unwavering faith in God’s power. He runs toward the challenge, not away from it, knowing that victory comes from the Lord.
Saul’s envy of David’s triumphs leads to multiple attempts on David’s life. Despite Saul’s schemes, David remains steadfast, finding refuge in God’s strength and protection.
Amidst the chaos, David’s psalms reflect a heart anchored in trust and praise. Even in the face of adversity, he sings of God’s power and deliverance, reminding us to find solace in worship.
Word of the Day: Run
Definition: To move at a speed faster than a walk, never having both or all the feet on the ground at the same time.
David’s boldness in running towards Goliath teaches us to face our challenges with courage and confidence, trusting in God’s sovereignty.
Just as David ran towards Goliath, we’re called to run our race of life with endurance, holding firmly to God’s word. And like David, may we run to God for refuge in times of trouble, knowing that He is our ultimate champion.

Navigating Trust
On today’s podcast, we immersed ourselves in the harrowing yet inspiring chapters of 1 Samuel 20 and 21, alongside Psalm 34. We encountered David, a man marked for death by King Saul, navigating the treacherous waters of royal enmity with the aid of his unwavering friend, Jonathan. Trusting God means embracing the unknown with the certainty that His presence is the ultimate remedy for our trials.

As we journey through life, embracing trust as David did invites us to experience God’s unwavering support and guidance.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:5-6
