Hello and happy 2026!

I hope you spent the last bit of 2025 with your friends and loved ones, eating and drinking something delicious.

Over the years I have come to immensely enjoy New Year’s Eve at home, celebrating with my children and close friends, instead of fancy parties elsewhere.

I love curating our menu with elevated hors d’oeuvres—shrimp cocktail, stuffed mushrooms, charcuterie, caviar, etc. My kids love sparkling cider, while the grownups enjoy champagne while we play games and enjoy the night.

After the festivities have subsided, I like to take a look at the year ahead and organize and plan coming events. Part of that means meal planning, which can feel daunting after a whirlwind of events and holidays in December.

My favorite meals are ones that gently ease us back into routine. Simple and unfussy but comforting. That’s what I’m offering this week: a chicken tortellini soup that is simple and satisfying, and delicious, and if you’re in the mood for something sweet, try the molten chocolate cakelets. Happy 2026!
