Vigloo sets a new milestone in vertical storytelling, unveiling Korea’s first full-length AI-powered micro-dramas: Met a Savior in Hell and Seoul: 2053.
Met a Savior in Hell, a romance drama produced in-house by Vigloo, follows a cold heir’s one-month, one-billion-won contract that gradually brings hidden secrets from the past to light. Seoul: 2053, a sci-fi drama created in collaboration with Korean production company ZANYBROS, is set in a post-climate-collapse Seoul, where humanity’s survival depends on confronting a humanoid adversary.
Together, these projects serve as a catalyst for Vigloo’s vision of establishing AI-driven micro-drama production as a new industry standard that drives sustainable creativity for both creators and platforms.
AI-Powered Creativity and Ethical Design
Vigloo’s use of AI marks a significant advancement in mobile-native production. By leveraging AI, Vigloo empowers small creative teams to do more with less, lowering the financial and production barriers for vertical dramas. Met a Savior in Hell was completed in a streamlined six-week pipeline, cutting costs by 90% and reducing production time by half.
AI also broadens the creative scope of micro-dramas. Seoul: 2053 shows how blockbuster-scale storytelling, spanning genres like science fiction and fantasy, can be realized within the modest budgets typical of the vertical format. AI tools enabled effects that would be nearly impossible to capture in live action, such as raging sandstorms, dystopian cityscapes, and humanoid figures, pushing beyond the traditional limits of short-form content.
Vigloo’s AI character creation is guided by originality and responsibility. In Met a Savior in Hell, the team used an image-to-video approach to generate character designs aligned with the script and personas. Characters were designed with non-specific features to avoid unintentional replication, differentiated through distinct hairstyles and colors. Designs were also shaped by large-scale datasets, artistic conventions, and stylistic variation, much like traditional illustrations. Additionally, every AI output undergoes human review and refinement to ensure distinctiveness and creative integrity.
Looking Ahead: AI Originals and Live-Action Synergy
AI continues to gain traction across the entertainment industry, and its advantages for small production teams are increasingly clear. Vigloo will continue to leverage AI for both original AI-driven productions and enhancing live-action content. The company plans to release three to four AI titles annually in high-concept genres, creating a distinct lineup alongside its live-action vertical dramas. In live action, AI will be applied to enhance quality and efficiency, where it adds meaningful creative value.
“Our vision is rooted in collaboration between human creators and AI,” said Neil Choi, CEO of Vigloo. “Human creativity remains central, with AI amplifying what’s possible. As technology evolves, we’re committed to responsible innovation—using AI to elevate storytelling, expand access, and redefine what’s possible in entertainment.”
