BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 15, 2025--

Income Research + Management (“Income Research” or “IR+M”) today announced the hiring of Mark D’Alfonso as Chief Operating Officer (“COO”), where he will oversee the firm’s Technology and Operations Teams. Concurrently, IR+M shared that its preceding COO, Max DeSantis, CFA, will be transitioning back to the Investment Team in a new role – Senior Portfolio Manager and Co-Director of Portfolio Management. Max will leverage his technology and portfolio management expertise as the firm evolves its investment solutions while maintaining its long-standing investment philosophy.

Mark will report to Bill O’Malley, CFA, Chief Executive Officer, and Max will report to Jim Gubitosi, CFA, Co-Chief Investment Officer.

“We are excited to welcome Mark to IR+M as our Chief Operating Officer,” said Bill O’Malley. “Mark is a proven technology leader who brings a passion for innovation and collaboration to our firm. His extensive fixed income knowledge and inspired guidance will not only strengthen our platform, but also help us deliver the client-focused solutions that are our hallmark.”

“Max’s technology and portfolio management background makes him well-suited to his new role as Senior Portfolio Manager and Co-Director of Portfolio Management,” added Jim Gubitosi. “Max will strengthen our commitment to evolving our investment technology and structuring our investment platform to scale as we grow.”

Mark brings to IR+M deep technology and operations experience. Most recently, he served as Global Investments and Connectivity Solutions Managing Director at State Street Investment Management, where he led the strategic development and oversight of technology programs, products, and systems. Prior to that, Mark held numerous leadership positions during his 20-year tenure at the firm.

“I am thrilled to join IR+M at such a pivotal time in the firm’s growth,” said Mark. “Technology and operations are deeply interconnected, and I look forward to building systems that not only enhance scale and efficiency, but also empower and support our clients and colleagues who rely on them every day.”

Mark graduated with an MBA in Finance from Boston University and a BSBA in Management Information Systems and Finance from Northeastern University.
